Rocket Race

Space Cross versus Blue Beginnings. Turn-based rocket tactics on a Space Coast launch range.

The Rocket Race board mid-match: Space Cross's orange rockets face Blue Beginnings' blue ones across the middle of the Range, with a Reentry Strike being aimed

Two rival launch companies, one launch range at night: pick Space Cross, with its tall grid-finned boosters, or Blue Beginnings, with its stout capsule rockets. Six rockets each. Move across the Range, land on pads to pick up hidden payloads, and use them to outmanoeuvre your opponent. Reach the enemy's landing zone for a bonus and a reinforcement; clear their rockets off the Range to win.

Made on the Space Coast, just down the road from the pads it's about.

What's in it

  • Fifteen payloads, each built around real launch operations - Reentry Strike, Flame Trench, Suborbital Hop, Deluge, Grid Fin and more
  • See every pad a blast will hit before you fire, including your own rockets caught in it - scorched ground burns for the rest of the match
  • Enemy rockets show how many payloads they carry but not which ones, and the game tells you exactly what an opponent's move cost you
  • Play Range Control, the computer opponent, any time - even offline - or get matched with a person online, or play a friend with a private match code. If no one turns up, Range Control steps in
  • Every match opens with a face-off and ends with a send-off: the winner's whole fleet launches, then comes home - boosters landing on their legs, capsules under parachutes
  • Every piece of art and every sound is made in code, from scratch
